Linking Commerce and Community
The latest step we've taken in the direction of
linking commerce and community was the establishment of "Citizen
Membership." The first person to become a Citizen Member is
Judy Lohr. Lohr is a 45 year resident of Park Forest and a retired
high school teacher (English) from Thornton Fractional South High
School in Lansing. She is also a retired member of Rich Township
District 227 Board of Education (28 years) and former chair of Youth
and Traffic and Safety Commissions in Park Forest; and former chair
of Committee for Non Partisan Local Government in Park Forest. Lohr
states, "I became aware of MACC's work while I was on the Rich
Township High School Board and wanted to stay affiliated with the
organization. I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to join
as a citizen member. I think the connection between education and
the business and municipal communities is exceedingly important.
We need the businesses and the municipalities to team with educational
institutions to promote the future. Hopefully I can offer some expertise."
